November 6, 2021A lot of people dream of living on the sea. It used to be my dream as well. But moving to another region, country, with absolutely different mentality, language, climate and other features could be very challenging. That’s why not many people have courage to do that brave step. And even among those who made this step, there are a lot of people, who still get disappointed and lose their dream and move back. But in reality it’s not that challenging if you properly prepare yourself, if you don’t have any expectations and can really enjoy every single moment of your life.
Here I’m going to write about life on the coast and present to you different articles with more features of life at different seasons. And here is the general information about the coastal life.
What do you Need to Know About Coastal Life
- The climate on the coast is humid. It means that it needs to ventilate your room/house/flat properly as there are more chances to see mold in the house. But it’s not that scary if you’re prepared and know how to avoid it.
- There could be more precipitation at winter-spring time and each season feels differently even with the same temperature on the coast and at the mainland.
- There are more chances to see hail on the coast. Sometimes hail could be so big that it can damage cars and plants. But if you know it, it won’t scare or surprise you.
- There are two types of winds – northern, that are cold and strong usually, and southern, that could be strong or not and might bring sand from Africa. It could be combined with rain so it’s better to wait a few days until its done before washing your car as all the cars becomes very dirty.
These are just few points from my personal observations and I will describe more details on the next articles about different seasons.
How to Prepare Yourself For Moving to the Coast
You can find a lot of sites, blogs, videos with all the information about different features about the culture, coastal life and everything you might need to know to move. There are a lot of forums, groups etc where people share their experiences after moving to the coast, all the difficulties they face and unexpected things they found. And a lot of them could be in common. But remember, that we all are different, we perceive life, people, situations, places differently, including at different times in our life.
So the best way to know if this new life will be for you – come to the new place and stay there for at least a few months. If you can come at different seasons to feel yourself how it looks and feels like – it will be the best way. Try to feel life not from the position of a tourist, but dive deeper into the life, culture, mentality. It means it would be better to try local food, meet locals, talk to them, make some friends, go out not only at sunny day, but at rain and other days. Walk more to see the place where you want to live, explore it and be curious.
