Kotor Fortress

Kotor Fortress is one of the most inquisitive sights of the country. It is located pretty high on the mountain and there are two ways to get there. One - through the main entrance in Old Town of Kotor and it's a paid climbing. There are a lot of steps on the stairs you will need to pass by to get to the top. It's not an easy way but the end point won't leave you disappointed.

The second way to get to the top - is a free hiking trail in the mountains. There are no steps and the road might be a bit dangerous sometimes, but in the main, it's a very beautiful climbing. The mountain road is winding, through the flower fields, forests, and just stony cliffs. You will see some goats on a free grazing. And of course, you will watch a breathtaking views of the Bay of Kotor.

During this climbing, you will see an old beautiful church, a very few houses and a little cafe. Be aware and wear comfortable clothes and shoes going on such an adventure. The main entrance to the fortress is via a small window in the cliff, that makes the adventure even more excited. You will absolutely love exploring the fortress. But it's better to go on such a trip earlier in a day because it will take up to one hour one way including making awesome photos and enjoying the views.

For more experienced travelers, there is one more hiking trail close to the top of Kotor Fortress which will take few hours and will allow you to explore much more mountain beauty.
