Fascinada is an old custom and very fun event that takes place at one of the most romantic places, in Perast. The root of this custom lays in a few centuries back and the legend says that that fishermen from Perast found an icon of the Virgin and Christ on a rock near Perast. They decided to place more rocks and the wrecks of old boats to make an island. Later a church was built on the island that now calls Our Lady of the Rocks. Since then it has been the unwritten promise of Perast sailors to drop a new rock around the island before every new voyage, as a contribution to the stability of the foundation of the church. This is how the island appeared and Fascinada started.
So the main goal of this event is tourists and locals gather every year at July 22 and sail around the island Our Lady of Rocks and through a rock to its foundation making it more stable.
